Energizer Bunny
That is what he is too me...
He just keeps going, and going...
Fast is the only speed he knows
Constantly moving like lightening on the street
But once home the speed seemed to dissipate
An old man with a lack of energy is what greets me
Crashing and the only salvation seemed to be the bed.
My heart melts to see him this way
Wanting to take some of the weight off his shoulders
But where do you start?
What can I do?
Going, going, going
And I watch from the side lines
Knowing he feels the drain
But still he pushes
I ask why?
He humble responds I`m trying to make a better life
Not sure what to say
I respond the best way I can
A plate of food and hands that soothe
Easing away the day the best way I can
Finally the battery dies and his head finds that place in the pillow that hugs back
And sleep takes him by the hands.
