What are you giving up?

Today is Ash Wednesday and the day that starts off the Lenten season. During this day you hear a lot of people asking, "Hey what are you giving up?" During this season you are suppose to give up is suppose to be something that is a struggle for you. This sacrifice is done as symbol to the sacrifice that Christ made during the 40 days in the wilderness before he died on Calvary. Over the years I have given up soda, candy and many other things. But this year I wanted to try to give up something that I feel will make me a better person and promote happiness in my life.

My pastor always says if you can give it up for 7 days you can give it up for life. Well today I will start the ultimate challenge. I am going to try to give up complaining and replace it with scripture, prayers, song and smiles. Now if you know me this is a serious challenge. I come off as a negative Nancy because I am always worrying and trying to make sure things are perfect.

I know there will be days that I am going to want to express my frustrations, however I want to actively work to curving that and being a light of change. I will try to update daily on how I am doing with the challenge.

So here is to day one!!!
