Handle Your Business

So if you know me you know that I spend every Sunday with my family. We eat dinner, we watch movies and play games. This weekend will be an extended version of that. I am extremely excited for that. We always have a great time together. Take great pictures and tell great stories.

But as we make this journey there was one life lesson that came before it, Handle Your Business. Let me explain.....
While chatting with my Uncle he informed me that we might take a trip to Toronto, the next day when I brought the convo up to my mom she goes ooh I won't be able to go. Of course I asked why and her response was my passport expired. Ok that is an easy fix. Ha so I thought. A simple 1,2,3 process turned into a question of if my mother even had valid ID. A couple of months maybe even a year or two ago, her state ID expired. I informed my mother she should go down to the DMV and get a new one, its a simple process. Hell I really tried to get her to get her license(but that is a whole different post in its self). Nevertheless, she doesn't listen because she is "Queen Lioness Know It All" and walked around with a passport claiming she had valid ID. Now I won't argue with the logic in that statement because it was valid ID(But please believe I can). However this beautiful logic brings us to our current dilemma.

My mother lost her wallet a couple of months ago(possibly along with her social Security Card) and during this same time period my mother's passport also expired. Now I am not sure if you know but getting ID can be a very hard and long process if you have no form of ID. Which brings us to our current situation. My mother spent a whole day trying to "fix" the situation however, couldn't because of lack of ID. During a conversation where she tried to explain to my her struggles to replace the ID she explained to my that she showed a woman in one office the ID and the girl explained to her but this is not valid. My mother's frustrated response was "but you can tell its me." My loving response was "but you didn't listen to me when I told you way back when to get a new one and now its harder because you have more issues."

As she continued to talk, all I could do was shake my head. I love my mother, she is a great woman, has great insight, encouraging, loving, creative, great teacher and a good cook. However, she doesn't listen sometimes. Its a shame.

But the moral of this story is Handle Your Business and don't wait till the last minute. The saying goes "The early bird gets the worm"
